Bassett’s Transport Training is the driver training division of R G Bassett & Sons Ltd, a family business, founded in 1897, which prides itself on the delivery of quality transport services to our valued clients.

For over 35 years, Bassett’s Transport Training has delivered an unparalleled service for driver training and is widely regarded as the premier transport training organisation within Staffordshire and the wider area. Operating from our base in Tittensor in rural Staffordshire, we are one of only a small number of training organisations nationally to be accredited to ISO 9001:2015. As a result, the quality of our courses across Stoke is second-to-none.

Unlike many training providers, training for all of our on-road courses is conducted on one instructor to one trainee basis giving you the best possible outcome from your course. Whether you require a licence to drive a 44-tonne artic or something a little smaller, our experienced instructors will provide you with the skills you need to achieve your goal.

Meet the Team

Nick Harrison

Training Manager

Nick joined the Bassett’s Training team in 2024, having spent 15 years in the British Army. He brings with him a wealth of knowledge and qualifications, allowing him to deliver practical driver training, and associated classroom-based courses such as Driver CPC, ADR and First Aid training. Nick is also a member of the National Register of LGV Instructors.

Lynn Jones

Training Co-Ordinator

Lynn joined Bassett’s Training team in 2018, having spent the majority of her career working in the Motor industry. She has extensive sales and administration experience, and prides herself on offering a friendly and professional service to our valued clients, when arranging the various aspects of their training programmes with us.

Ken Williams

LGV Instructor

Ken is a highly experienced LGV Instructor, having delivered LGV licence acquisition & driver development training for the past 17 years. He is qualified as an LGV Instructor with the Driving Standards Agency, has completed RTITB Master Driver CPC Instructor Training and holds a Certificate of Professional Competence in National Road Haulage Operations.

Peter Gipson

LGV Instructor

Pete came to R G Bassett & Sons Ltd in 2010, bringing with him over 20 years of experience of delivering LGV driver training. During this time he has gained accreditation as an RTITB Approved LGV Driving Instructor, a Safe and Fuel Efficient Driving (SAFED) Instructor and is registered as an LGV Instructor with the Driving Standards Agency.

I called up out of the blue to ask for advice on driving HGVs. Had an excellent experience and clarity in how to move forward. Everything was sent to me by email and all dates and times were exactly as expected.

I decided to go straight for my Class 1 Artic and could do that straight from driving a car (who knew?).

The advice was to take the longer option for lessons before the test. I was happy to take their advice and I’m glad I did. It gave me enough time to practice and digest before my test.
